My Philosophy

I believe is that all children have the right to a safe educationally rich environment within a school setting that empowers them with the skills they need to reach their full potential.

My vision for the Hamilton Elementary School Counseling program is to remove barriers to student success by using a comprehensive approach which equips students with the academic and social/emotional skills they need to reach their future educational and career goals.

What does a school counselor do?

As a school counselor I address three areas: academic, career, and social/emotional skills for all students. Services I provide are: preventative and crisis counseling services, engaging small group activities, as well as Second Step classroom lessons. I am also a student advocate, within this role I coordinate, consult, mediate, and/or collaborate with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and staff. As a team we work together to address student's needs. I also help connect families to, or provide information for outside services such as counseling, housing, and medical needs (See resource list below).

Classroom Guidance

Second Step curriculum features engaging activities that develop social-emotional skills, including age-appropriate bullying prevention lessons.
